Great Commission is an apparel line targeted towards Christians as a means of evangelization. The name “Great Commission” comes from the last recorded personal instruction given by Jesus to his disciples, to evangelize and “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” This command is one that applies not only to his disciples, but to all Christians, which is why I decided to make an apparel line based on that scripture.
The company itself sells a wide variety of shirts, hoodies, hats and even stickers! Since the idea of the brand is to evangelize, each order of a designed apparel item comes with a picture card with a description on the back, explaining the design and what it means in the Christian faith. This is so that if a stranger where to ask what the design was about or what it was from, you would be able to explain it’s meaning based on what you learned from the card. The designs are made to target younger Christian audiences, from teenagers to young adults (30’s). The website and Instagram page are both ways of marketing the company, but also through trade shows and church events or gatherings are ways of getting the word out. This is shown through the trade show style installation.
Being a Christian myself, I was inspired to do this project through my beliefs but also through getting the idea about an apparel line through my uncle, who has been more than willing to through a lot of ideas my way over the past couple years! Through his passion and motivation to do something with this idea, I decided that the best way to help him with the design aspect was to start the branding and creation of the products and signage through my senior project, and I believe that I have been very successful in doing so!
